"I really effed up. And that's it."
Up against the Toronto City Council, an embattled Mayor Rob Ford continued his apology tour on Wednesday.
But defied the council's call to take a leave of absence after a string of drug-related incidents has surfaced in the media.
Instead, he indicated he'd run for re-election.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) TORONTO MAYOR ROB FORD, SAYING:
"There is no need for me to take a leave of absence. I'm returning my calls. I'm going to committees. I'm watching every single dime that's being spent here. I've done it for 13 years. I'm going to continue doing for five more years-- one this time and four more after October 27."
During the meeting, Ford insisted on having a zero tolerance for drugs and gangs, but admitted to buying illegal drugs in the last two years.
