Dolphins Use Names For One Another

Humans aren't the only mammals who use specific names to differentiate one individual from the next. A group of scientists studying bottlenose dolphins off the coast of Scotland discovered that the animals use different names for different individual dolphins within the group. The dolphins use whistles to broadcast their location as they swim through the ocean. Each dolphin has his or her own distinctly pitched whistle that he or she uses throughout life.
