ROUGH CUT - NO NARRATION
STORY: Emma Thompson stepped into Hollywood history on Thursday (November 7) when she placed her hands and feet in fresh cement in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre ahead of the North American premiere of "Saving Mr. Banks," a behind the scenes look at the making of "Mary Poppins." Ironically, almost 50 years earlier, in 1964, Disney's "Mary Poppins" premiered at the same spot, when it went by Grauman's Chinese Theatre. For Thompson, the ceremony brought back memories of her childhood. "Saving Mr. Banks" is the story of how Walt Disney's classic "Mary Poppins" made it to the screen 20 years after his children first brought the work to his attention. Tom Hanks stars as the iconic studio head, Disney, who comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer in the form of P.L. Travers, played by Thompson, who has no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny, Mary Poppins, get mauled by the Hollywood machine. The film focuses on two short weeks
