There are way too many heartbreaking stories about dogs.

A purebred boxer, named Jackson was abandoned in Miami and left on his own for months.

The original owners of the pooch had moved away. As for Jackson, he was left behind. To survive, he wandered the streets, scouring for garbage and anything else which would provide just a little bit of nourishment.

Thankfully a volunteer with a local rescue organization found him and brought him to a rescue facility for treatment. Jackson had approximately 800 ticks all over his body and he was also suffering from giardia, which is a microscopic parasite that causes severe diarrhea. In many cases, the illness can be deadly.

Jackson has lived at the Pet Haven rescue facility for several weeks now. Since his arrival, he has received veterinary care and has been getting fed properly.

He has put on some weight and workers at the organization are preparing to have him fixed. Once that procedure is carried out, he will officially be put up for adoption.

Anyone with extra space in their home and hearts is asked to contact authorities at the Pet Haven Rescue center and inquire about Jackson.
