Recently a mother in London, Consi Taylor discovered dozens of spiders crawling over the skin of a store bought banana.
Classified as Brazilian wandering spiders, they are described as venomous and aggressive. Commonly found on banana plants, they are native to central and South America.
Taylor described the moment she realized that the white dots on her bananas weren’t mold spots, stating, “I had a closer look and was horrified to see they were spiders. They were hatching out on the table, scurrying around on my carpet."
The terrified mom went back to the supermarket and told workers about the incident. She was offered a small voucher as a form of compensation for the error, but it wasn’t quite over.
A local pest control business urged the family to evacuate the home as there was the possibility of infestation. The supermarket, Sainsbury's has since paid for them to stay in a hotel while their home is fumigated.
