A man hailing from Estonia has begun to travel the world by both land and sea using only his amphibious vehicle to carry him.

He estimates that the full journey will take about 9 months.

That may sound like a long time to spend in a car, even if it does do cool things like turn into a boat, but considering the vehicle transformation took 7 years, relatively speaking, it’s not bad.

In addition to the gear needed to transform the Toyota Land Cruiser into a 33-foot water-friendly vessel when needed, some creature comforts have also been added.

Among them are a stove and a portable toilet.

The downside of the changes is that there’s not a whole lot of room for passengers, but there is thankfully enough space for the man to bring along a copilot.

That job will be filled by a number of people throughout the many legs of the journey.

The 37-thousand mile expedition includes treks across the Straits of Gibralter, a river in Senegal, and the Atlantic Ocean.

While the car boat hybrid does have some disadvantages in the water, it does offer the benefit of being unlikely to capsize.
