After the due date came and went without a return from Jory Enck, a warrant was issued for his arrest about three years ago and he was recently taken into police custody.

Keeping a library book a little past the due date might not be as innocent as you think.

One man in Texas doesn’t need to be told that after he was arrested for the seemingly harmless act. Jory Enck is the man in question. He reportedly signed out a G.E.D practice study book several years ago. After the due date came and went without a return, a warrant was issued for his arrest about three years ago.Well police recently caught up with him and took him into custody for taking his sweet time turning back in the reading material.

The corresponding city ordinance concerning overdue library books in Copperas Cove is very strict.

Municipal Court Judge Bill Price stated “The reason they passed it was that they were spending a tremendous amount of money replacing these materials that people just didn't return.” Enck was soon released from the local jail on a $200 bond. Only one day after his arrest, the overdue G.E.D book was returned to the library.

What do you think - is jail time too extreme in this case?
