The Russian prison service has announced that Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, a member of punk rock protest group Pussy Riot, has been sent to a new penal colony.
The statement came after Tolokonnikova’s husband told media outlets that he had received no news of her for nearly two weeks and did not know where she was.
The protester, who started a hunger strike in September over prison conditions, is serving a two-year sentence over a politically provocative Pussy Riot performance in Moscow’s main Orthodox cathedral.
