Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag maintains the core gameplay of its predecessors while adding more of the first-rate naval combat that debuted in Assassin's Creed III. A new modern-day protagonist makes for an interesting change in that aspect of the story, but ultimately leaves something to be desired. Overall, if you loved playing an Assassin in the previous games, you'll like being a pirate even more.
