Chinese officials have admitted that the image of Wang Jun, a provincial vice-mayor, visiting a 103-year-old woman was manipulated.

Of course, the editing job was done so poorly, they didn’t have much of a choice.

In the image, the woman is shrunken down to the relative size of a doll, while Wang and his entourage loom over her, with one man appearing to be floating.

It’s been reported that the changes were necessary due to problems with the angle in the original photo.

However, one man working in the offices for the municipal government went a different route and blamed hackers.

Now, officials are left defending the fact Wang was ever there as the image is clearly one picture just laid on top of another.

Many citizens see the photo as a poorly executed ploy to make Wang and his people appear more caring than they otherwise come across.

A number of the posters on a popular Chinese social media site are viewing the image as a metaphor, saying its composition echoes the distance and superiority officials feel towards the people.
