Fighting to the finish in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Congolese army pushes the M23 rebels out of the town of Bunagana that the rebels seized last year.
Bunagana was strategic during the rebellion, allowing the M23 to control a key access point to Uganda and Rwanda.
Congo's east has been plagued by cycles of rebellion and the United States has called for a return to talks, warning of further violence if no diplomatic solution is found.
The soldiers were given a heroes welcome when they entered the town.
(SOUNDBITE)(French) CONGOLESE MILITARY SPOKESMAN, COLONEL OLIVIER HAMULI, SAYING:
"We promised that we would soon hoist the National flag in Bunagana and now that has happened. That is it what is important. The armed armed forces kept its word and M23 has been chased out of the country forever."
While government forces may be savoring the victory the fight goes on as they move on to clear M23 rebels from the country.
