Dancers dominate the catwalk in São Paolo Fashion Week

Latin America’s biggest fashion event, São Paulo Fashion Week, started with a bang on Monday October 28, as supermodel Karlie Kloss took to the runway.

Kloss, ranked number seven in the world by Models.com, walked for opening act Animale’s bold new 2014 winter collection.

Animale designers chose to play with the dark mysticism winter often evokes, by mixing a Scottish gothic theme with elements of British punk.

Refusing to succumb to the chill of winter, the collection featured many leggy, short cut dresses and transparent prints.

Animale designer, Priscilla Darolt, elaborated:

“We’re showing a collection inspired by ancient peoples from Great Britain, mixed with contemporary influences. We’re searching for a convergence between the ancient aesthetic and something contemporary.”

First established in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian label Animale is over 20 years old and is sold in more than 500 locations.

Other labels, such as Tufi Duek and Osklen, also presented lines on Monday, but i
