I needed to drill a couple more holes than what was provided in the back to use it as a media center. Its a shame it only comes with one hole in the center compartment. But anyway, it didnt take long to put together. The instructions were detailed and thorough and it only took me 30 minutes of my time to assemble it. The frame is made of steel so it can support some weight. If youre building in a separate area from where it will eventually be, a word of caution. Once assembled, it is quite top heavy and can crush a toe if dropped, so see if you can get someone to help you. The box it comes in is also quite heavy (about 60lbs.) so you might need help getting it in to your home too. I am really satisfied with my purchase and it sure beats buying the thing straight from the manufacture, AltraFurniture.com, at over 300.00!!! 200.00 in savings!
