Three Lao women were arrested Monday for attempting to smuggle 4,000 methamphetamine pills in their genitals and rectum in Thailand's Kalasin region, the Bangkok Post reported.
They crossed the Mekong river in Mukdahan province, then took a bus to Kalasin. Police stopped them at the Kalasin bus station after a tip-off that the trio were transporting drugs from Laos, the Bangkok Post reported.
When questioned, the women allegedly admitted to smuggling the drugs.
They were taken by police to Kalasin Hospital, where an X-ray revealed a total of 4,000 pills in 20 bags stashed inside their genitals and rectums.
According to the Bangkok Post, investigators said the women were hired by another Lao woman to carry the narcotics across the border and deliver them to a customer in the Kalasin province.
