Chemicals are everywhere - in cars, toys, electrical appliances, lipstick etc. Consumers believe that chemicals which are on the market have been tested and are safe. But some of them have never undergone any risk assessment.
Director General Monique Goyens expresses BEUC's concerns about so-called endocrine disruptors - chemicals which can alter our hormone system. They can be really harmful and have long-term effects even at a small doses. There is an urgent need to reduce consumers' exposure to them.
