Explosion at a sweet factory in north Mexico kills one, injures dozens

At least one person has died and dozens are injured in an explosion that tore through this sweet factory in northern Mexico.

Officials say the boiler exploded in the Dulces Blueberry factory at an industrial park in Ciudad Juarez near the U.S. border.

But some workers said the blast was caused by a gas leak.

(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) UNIDENTIFIED FACTORY WORKER, SAYING:

"It was an explosion. (Reporter: What did you do in this factory?) We wait for the honey for the glucose. (Reporter: And what do you think happened?) I imagine a gas leak because the explosion was very strong. (Reporter: What do you remember? Did you see people injured?) Yes, many people bleeding, burnt. (Reporter: What happened to you?) It just hurt my heel."

About three hundred people were in the factory when the ceiling collapsed. Six of the injured are in a serious condition but several people are still missing.
