Loren wins legal battle, Stone honored for AIDS work

Sophia Loren was the victor in a 39-year tax dispute. The Italian acting legend was fighting a dispute from 1974, when she paid 70 percent of her earnings in taxes, but insisted she only should have spent 60 percent - or roughly 380,000 dollars. Her lawyer has filed appeals for decades, and finally Italy's top court ruled in Loren's favor on Wednesday (October 23).

Sharon Stone has received the Peace Summit Award from the body of Nobel Peace Prize laureates. The actress was in Warsaw to accept the honor, which was bestowed upon her by the Dalai Lama. Stone was recognized for her extensive efforts in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Ringo Starr was in Los Angeles promoting the release of a personal collection of previously unseen photographs of the Beatles. Entitled "Photograph," the book also includes pictures spanning the musician's childhood in Liverpool, England, to his road to fame as the drummer for the Fab Four.
