A wedding ring is one of our most prized possessions.
60 years ago, a man in Nova Scotia traded his wedding ring for a pint of beer, and now his grandchild is trying to get it back.
Grandpa has since laid off the booze, but back in the day he had more than a bit of a wild side.
On the tail end of a three-day binge, the then soldier found himself in a Halifax bar out of money and wanting to keep the party going.
He negotiated a trade of the ring for a pint.
The man also constructed a tale about its loss that involved a sink and kitchen duty.
Only recently did he come clean, and he did so rather casually one day when he was looking at his newly married granddaughter’s ring.
Reportedly, his wife wasn’t surprised, saying she always thought he was lying.
The granddaughter, however, is on a mission to make things right and is hoping to do so by Christmas.
She’s posted an ad online in the hopes of finding the ring owner. Even though she hasn’t yet gotten any responses, there have been a lot of people looking at it.
