A landing gear wheel on aThai budget carrier detached from the axle when the aircraft touched down Thursday morning. Nok Air flight DD 8714 took off from Bangkok's Don Muang airport just after 8 a.m. The Boeing 737-800 was carrying 162 passengers and crew. The landing gear was lowered normally as the aircraft made its final approach but as the plane touched down the left wheel detached and an axle was damaged. The pilot was able to land normally and passengers were unaware of the incident. The airline believes the forward landing gear had a loose bolt. "There was no danger and everything's fixed. It's just a stumble and definitely not an emergency," Nok Air chief executive Patee Sarasin said of the mechanical failure.
