STORY: A man accused of murdering his fiancé, Canada-born Lisa Harnum in 2011, appeared in court in Australia's Sydney on Monday (October 21).
Simon Gittany allegedly threw the 30-year-old former ballerina off the balcony at their high-rise apartment in Sydney's central business district, local media said.
The prosecutor said in his opening address to the jury the alleged murder took place after months of increasingly controlling and abusive behaviour by Gittany, local media added.
Gittany's counsel said the couple's relationship was dysfunctional but that it was also characterised by 'affection and love', local media said.
Gittany was seen arriving and leaving the court with his current girlfriend.
