In retrospect, I don't think I chose the quickest way to end the campaign. I delved more into the campaign pathing after this battle, and... yeah, I should have just skipped ahead to Stones River/Murfreesboro. Instead, I'm mired in the Peninsula Campaign of 1862, and I don't think the game's going to be generous and let me redeem McClellan.
Ah, well. I'm up for the challenge, game. Hit me with your best shot.
Historical recap: The Battle of Mechanicsville (Beaver Dam Creek) took place in Virginia on June 26, 1862. Estimates suggest that at most 16,000 Union and 17,000 Confederate soldiers fought at Mechanicsville with 361 Union and 1,484 Confederate casualties. The Union emerged victorious largely due to the tactical blunders of the Confederacy, but this battle was the first of a series of battles known as the "Seven Days Battles" which ultimately resulted in the failure of the Peninsula Campaign.
