A 23-year-old Malaysian man died Sunday evening in Johor Baru when another tenant set fire to the nine-room house they were renting. The suspect, a 45-year-old durian vendor, was seen loading his belongings into a truck just outside the house, according to a report by the Star Online. Hours later, a different tenant said she saw the man hurling an object into the compound, before rushing away in his vehicle. Moments later she heard an explosion.

One of the house's nine tenants, 23-year-old Teoh Siang Kiang, slept through the ensuing fire, and died of smoke inhalation. Police found the durian seller at a budget hotel the next day.
