The Washington Post has obtained top secret information revealing that the National Security Agency and the FBI have been tapping into the central servers of nine major U.S. internet companies and using the data to track foreign targets. The program is code-named PRISM.
Companies involved include Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, facebook, Paltalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube and Apple. Dropbox will reportedly be added to that list soon. Data extracted from these companies include audio and video chats, photographs, emails, documents and connection logs. As most foreign communications traffic flows through the U.S., the PRISM program is able to use the metadata to monitor foreign targets and their associates.
