Belgaum: Reacting sharply to reports that a section of Congress party MLAs were upset with his style of functioning, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asserted that none of the MLAs were against him.

“All this talk about the differences between the legislators and me is baseless,” he asserted while speaking to reporters here after participating in a Janata Darshan programme.

There have been unconfirmed reports that several Congress legislators including Chikpet MLA R.V. Devraj had visited Delhi, upset over the manner in which transfers of police officials was carried out at the behest of a former police officer considered close to the chief minister.

Siddaramaiah also announced that a high-powered committee would soon be formed to look into the shifting of some important government offices from Bengaluru to the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha in Belgaum where the winter session of the state legislature is held.

Some of the major issues pertaining to North Karnataka could be raised in the coming session of the legislature in Belgaum in November. "The last winter session in Suvarna Soudha did not deal with these issues for various reasons. But now it may discuss them,'' he said.

Assuring that people’s problems brought to his notice during the Janata Darshan would be dealt with by Belgaum deputy commissioner N Jairam shortly, he directed the officials concerned to address them within the next 20 days and warned they could face action if they did not.

Reiterating that minister Santosh Lad would not be dropped despite the allegations of illegal mining levelled against him by RTI activist, S.R. Hiremath, the CM said, " I have documents to show that Lad is not involved in illegal mining. The dumping of iron ore in his yard exceeded its boundaries to some extent, that's all.''
