With his new single "Love Can" playing on major stations in South Africa and turning heads, Shaun Jacobs is a name people are starting to become familiar with.
"Love Can" is the first single from his upcoming second album (as yet untitled), which comes on the heels of his debut album Paper Wings, known for the lead single "With you" which achieved extensive airplay holding its own on chart shows like the Kia Take40SA for over two months and eventually coming in at number 78 of the top 100 songs of the year, followed up by his second and third singles "Hurt" and "Carried" getting major playlisting as well.
The South African recording artist's vocal and songwriting ability caught the attention of manager Simon Painter in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Shaun was sent straight to the recording studio, resulting in his debut album "Paper Wings", which has just been released.
Painter comments that "Shaun is one of the most exciting young singer songwriters I know of today", and continues "his music has a truly global appeal, and we are thrilled to be working with such an outstanding talent".
Shaun is a multi-instrumentalist born and raised in South Africa. At 5 years of age he was already playing drums, and after getting his first drum set at 14 he was intent on being a drummer. It was a year later however, when his older brother insisted he learn another instrument as well, that his talents for guitar, singing and songwriting were unearthed.
He has spent the years since finishing school playing with a band, writing music, and working in studio, honing not only his skills as a musician, but also his skills as a mix engineer and producer. He is fully involved in the process of making music, from composing his own songs and playing every instrument in the production, to doing his own mixing and producing in the studio.
His dynamic live performances combine energy and intricacy and his versatility means he can perform not only as a rocking 3-piece, but also as a compelling solo acoustic act.
Painter will be taking Shaun over to the States for some touring at a later stage.
