Having a lunch break during the workday can be a great way to recharge and feel rested for the remainder of the hours at work.

But a new study has found that some people feel less tired if they decide to work through their lunch break.

The results of the study from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, working with researchers from a couple of other institutions, show that if subjects of the study made their own decision to skip lunch, then they actually felt less tired.

But if they felt pressured, or forced to skip their lunch break, then the subjects reportedly felt more tired.

Socializing with co-workers through the lunch break also led to subjects feeling tired, as they may need to be careful when speaking in the company of fellow employees or the boss, and talk about work related topics.

Having free time during the lunch break, which may or may not include socializing, turned out to be the most relaxing activity for the subjects to do during this time of day.
