Jan Bergen, the chief operating officer at Lancaster General Health described the Amish system by saying: “The way they come together to pay for health care is amazing. Their sense of responsibility extends beyond themselves and to the community.”
Hospitals give special benefits to the Amish, and each member of the community contributes to a group fund, which goes towards paying hospital bills.
