It was reported that the suspects contacted the teenagers via social networks and lured them to join a criminal group. They met with two unknown men at a shopping mall and then left together in a taxi to a farm near Spring Forest where they were allegedly killed.
The prosecutor noted that the teenagers were killed as revenge for making fun of their classmate, who is the son of Jose Angel Carrasco Coronel, also known as "El Changel", an alleged drug dealer.

Authorities said more arrests are expected to be made over the crime, including that of the son of the alleged drug dealer.
