I think that’s where the hook is. If you aren’t a fan of the Simpsons, this is just another game looking to suck the life and money out of you. As a pretty big fan it’s the voices, the story, the characters and the places we all know wrapped up in a game built for fans.
Electronic Arts in conjunction with the creators of the series have produced original cartoon shorts as cutscenes in the game and all the characters are voiced by the actual actors. Not only that, the whole game is tongue in cheek.
From the very first scene when Homer is playing a Farmville-esque game and denounces the grinding gameplay. Many a laugh I’ve had at the game taking the piss out of itself.
