The gorillas at Calgary Zoo are in the news again after escaping from their enclosure and making a break for the keeper kitchen next door.
It marks the second time this year that the zoo's western lowland gorillas have made a break for the kitchen, after a similar escape in March when they reportedly went ape in search of the fruits, grains and treats stored in the facility.
No staff or gorillas were injured in the incident.
In the March incident, a zookeeper lost his job after several gorillas escaped made it into the kitchen when a door wasn't properly locked.
A zookeeper discovered several of the zoo's eight lowland gorillas in the kitchen at around 900 am
The keeper was injured and was treated in hospital before being released the same day.
At the time the zoo said that emergency protocols were followed and the viewing public was never at risk.
Zoo spokesperson Trish Exton-Parder said there was no public alert because the gorillas remained in the containment area at all times and were never a threat to zoo visitors.
