A million little things: More than one million cockroaches have escaped from a farm in China where they were being bred for use in traditional medicine.

According to a report obtained by AFP, Chinese entrepreneur Wang Pengsheng had successfully harvested about 1.5 million cockroaches in a greenhouse facility located in Dafeng, in the eastern province of Jiangsu. He said he would feed them everything from fruits to biscuits.

That is, until an unknown suspect damaged the facility and released the pests. Disease control authorities are now contemplated the best way to get rid of the cockroaches.

Wang said that he invested about $16,000 in more than 100 kilograms of Periplaneta americana eggs. He had expected to generate about $160 for every kilogram of cockroaches sold, but is now facing losses in the thousands.
