John McAfee stops NSA spying with D-Central privacy device

2013-10-02 256

John McAfee, inventor of the uninstallable McAfee antivirus and jaw-muscle exercise enthusiast, has announced an incredible device, the D-Central, that will safeguard users from NSA snooping. He announced the device during an interview in San Jose on Saturday. The new device, which McAfee has yet to actually invent, would somehow use remote computers and mobile devices to create private networks that the NSA could not penetrate.

All of this is great news, especially for John McAfee, who was known as a super secretive recluse until he exploded into social media fame by killing/not killing his neighbor in Belize, then fleeing the country. Since then he has abandoned the quiet life of drug addled hermitude he spent in Belize in favor of a "louder" public profile. Notable events include his very public blow-out with with Vice magazine and deportation from Guatemala.

Internet privacy has been a hot button issue ever since Edward Snowden's leaks revealed the full extent (we hope!) of the NSA's shady practices. It was that event which McAfee credits with giving him the shot in the arm he needed to initiate the D-Central project. In fact, shots in the arm might be the very thing McAfee is eager to keep secret from internet snoopers. On the issue of whether his invention could be used for nefarious purposes, McAfee grants that such a use is indeed possible but notes that: "the phone is used for nefarious purposes." Indeed it is!

So carry on with your work, good sir McAfee. We await your magical mystery box that will let us communicate with terrorists, download unlimited illegal porn and buy drugs online. And in case we try to do something legal, like investigate what the government is getting up to, we'll be happy to use it then as well.
