There are some loyal dogs out there that will go to desperate lengths to save their family. A 9-month-old male pit bull terrier in Tallahassee, Florida recently saved his human family from a horrible house fire at his own expense.
As a result of the ordeal, 30 percent of Onyx's body was burned. The terrifying incident occurred at around 2 am on a recent Thursday. Trevor Myers, Sierra Plair and their two children were harshly awoken by the sounds of Onyx frantically and loudly barking.
The couple quickly jumped out of bed and Trevor went out to the porch to see what was going on. That was when he realized the pooch was on fire and quickly put out the flames while Sierra got the kids out of bed.
The family was unable to pay for Onyx’s medical bills, so money was raised through Facebook. Thankfully the dog has now been treated and is expected to make a full recovery.
Plair stated “I honestly do feel like if Onyx wasn't out there, even though it's unfortunate, anything could have happened.”f
