Many parents eagerly wait for their children to hop off the school bus each weekday. Well a mother in Upper Marlboro, Maryland was left horrified after discovering that her 5-year-old son had been put on the wrong bus and dropped off on a busy street.
The child, named Marcus, attends Mount Rainier Elementary School. On the day of the incident, his class had a substitute teacher, who unintentionally boarded the boy on the incorrect bus.
The driver didn't catch the mistake, as Marcus was able to get off the vehicle. He was dropped off at the corner of 34th Street and Rhode Island Avenue and left to wander around the area on his own.
He was reportedly lost for about an hour before he decided to finally knock on a stranger’s door and ask for help. He asked the good Samaritan to call his dad. Thankfully, Marcus has since been returned home safe and sound.
The school district has not yet responded to the incident, however Marcus’ mother has subsequently received withdrawal papers from the school. The children are reportedly living in the wrong zone in order for them to attend school, but it had never been a problem before.
