Twenty-two people were kiled in a series of planned attacks aimed at Mexican fedral police in Michoacan, Mexico on July 23. According to the Interior Department, gunmen blocked roads throughout Michoacan and ambushed police patrols in at least six different locations throughout the day.
It was reported that the assailants were equipped with high-powered rifles and grenades and they were hiding in the hills. They also blocked roads with buses and other units.
Two federal police were killed and 15 were wounded in the shootouts. 20 assailants were shot dead and 15 others were arrested.
