Throughout the years, fashion designers have obtained inspiration by the uniforms used in the military. Most of the designs became fads. In fact, some of them have gone in an out of style but there were a few exceptions and one of them is the navy pea coat. Pea coats are heavier outer coats made traditionally from wool. It is identifiable by its vertical pockets, large buttons and wide lapels. These winter military garments are doubled breasted and fall traditionally at the mid-thigh.
