Congress President and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation for a Rs 37,229 crore refinery-cum-petrochemical complex, a joint project of Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and the Rajasthan government, at Pachpadra in Barmer district in Rajasthan. Underlining the Congress' commitment for farmers' she added "The last bill passed by the Parliament during the recent session -- the Land Acquisition Bill - is aimed at protecting the interests of our farmers. This is a historic bill which ensures that no one can grab poor farmer's land forcibly".
