Road rage shootout: Two Michigan gunslinger motorists dead

Two Michigan drivers died Wednesday night in Ionia after shooting each other following a road rage incident.

James Pullum, 43, and Robert Taylor, 56, both local residents of Ionia, are dead according to a post Thursday morning on the Ionia Department of Public Safety Facebook page. Pullum and Taylor were both pronounced dead at Sparrow Ionia Hospital late on Wednesday night.

The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. in the parking lot of the Wood's Wonder Wand car wash located at 426 South Steele Street.

The details still remain a bit unclear. Witnesses told WZZM that one of the drivers was apparently following the other driver too closely. The first driver then proceeded to pull into the Wonder Wand Car Wash parking lot and the other driver followed them into the parking lot.

The two geniuses apparently got out of their vehicles and began arguing like sensible humans beings. Both men eventually took out their guns and opened fire, killing each other. Witnesses said they heard about seven or eight gunshots. First responders administered CPR to both men at the scene until they were taken to the hospital.

Both gunslingers had permits to carry concealed weapons.

The mother-in-law of James Pullum said Pullum's mother and her daughter witnessed the meaningful gun battle as they were in the car with Pullum when the incident went down. Authorities also confirmed that two passengers were traveling with one of the victims.

The Ionia County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab are currently investigating the case.
