Nairobi mall shooting: News has emerged that British-born terrorist Samantha Lewthwaite, A.K.A. the White Widow may have been involved in, or even led, the Nairobi shopping mall massacre this week which left 68 people dead.
A young witness during the siege reported seeing a caucasian woman directing attackers as they murdered non-muslim shoppers.
Lewthwaite, now 29, is the widow of Jermaine Lindsay, one of the jihadist suicide bombers who carried out the deadly subway attacks in London on July, 7, 2005.
Born in County Down, Northern Ireland, Lewthwaite spent her formative years in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in the UK. There, as a 17-year-old schoolgirl, she met Lindsay through an online chat service."
She converted to Islam, radicalised, and began wearing conservative Islamic dress.
She and Lindsay married three years later. According to British media, they had three children together before his infamous 2005 suicide attack.
In 2007, Lewthwaite fled the UK with her children for Mombasa, Kenya. Hiding under all-concealing Islamic dress she evaded capture as she moved between Kenya, Somalia and Tanzania.
The Al Shabaab terror group responsible for the mall attack, and for which she is a spokesperson, has its origins in Somalia, where jihadists have been fighting a war to impose sharia law in the country.
Analysts believe the Nairobi mall attack is revenge for the Kenyan government's support for the Somali state.
