Obviously it's not a literal finding but more a way of indicating how the "non-verbal and non-visual-chemical signals for communication between mother and child are intense..." to the point a mother has a much stronger neurological reaction to the scent of a newborn as opposed to a woman who has never given birth. The experiment was conducted at the Department of Obstetrics at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany.
