Voters in the Italian speaking Swiss canton of Ticino have become the country's first district to back a ban on face-covering veils.
However, the move still needs the approval of the federal parliament.
Those in favour claim the burqa is a barrier to integration but rights groups claim the ban discriminates against Muslims.
