Here are the 2013 Primetime Emmy nominees for outstanding drama series.
Number 6 – The crime drama that appears on AMC, Breaking Bad has landed a nomination. The series tells the story of a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with severe lung cancer and moves towards a life of producing and selling methamphetamine to ensure his family is financially stable.
Number 5 - Downton Abbey, which premiered in 2010, chronicles the wealthy Crawley family in the early years before World War I.
Number 4 – The HBO hit, Game of Thrones is another possible Emmy winner. Telling the tale of seven noble families battling for control of a mythical land, the fantasy drama premiered in 2011.
Number 3 – The Showtime series, Homeland, which stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis is another contender. The show centers around a former congressman who returns home safely after being held captive in Iraq. Danes, who portrays an intelligence officer, suspects he may have been turned by Al-Qaeda.
Number 2 – The American political drama series, House of Cards is one of the newer shows to make it to the nominee list. It premièred earlier in 2013 and stars Kevin Spacey as a congressman acting out revenge on those who went against him.
Number 1 – Mad Men is another potential Emmy winner. Starring Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss, the show is set in the 1960s and is based around the fictional ad executive Donald Draper
