International powers remain divided as they work on a draft resolution for the United Nations Security Council backing up the Russia-US deal on dismantling Syria's chemical weapons.
In the meantime the UN's 68th General Assembly has opened where Syria dominated proceedings.
UN chief General Ban Ki-moon urged a more determined effort to resolve the wider Syria conflict.
