Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona), Sep 17 (EFE).- Defender Gerard Piqué spoke at a press conference on Wednesday and claimed that Barça's playing style was "non-negotiable" adding that if the club's style were to change, many players would not be able to continue playing on the team. He did, however, admit that certain factors needed to be implemented seeing as the team had become "predictable".

The defender was looking to put an end to a recent controversy sparked by a statement he made during an interview in which he claimed that Barcelona had become a "slave" to ball possession in recent years. The player clarified saying that the comment in question was "taken out of context" by the press and that what he had really wanted to say was that the team had become predictable.

The press conference took place the day before Barça's Champions League game against Ajax. When asked about the match, Piqué said that the team was looking forward to starting the "most prestigious" competition,
