President Barack Obama says he hopes a deal can be made to destroy Syria's chemical weapons, but he emphasized any agreement must be "verifiable and enforceable."
He made the remarks on Friday after a meeting at the White House with Kuwait's emir, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.
Obama said he hopes the negotiations taking place in Geneva between Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov bear fruit.
"But I repeated what I've said publicly, which is any agreement needs to be verifiable and enforceable," Obama said.
