Hillary Clinton met with President Obama at the White House on Monday to talk about the ongoing situation involving Syria.

Clinton spoke out for the first time on the issue, during an appearance at a forum on wildlife trafficking.

The former secretary of state commented on Russia's latest proposal that Syria place its stockpile of chemical weapons under international control as a way to avoid U.S. military strikes.

Clinton said "That would be an important step, but this cannot be another excuse for delay or obstruction."

She says she supports the President's ongoing efforts regarding Syria, and she urged Congress to do the same.
