A unique invention, called the Cuddle Mattress, incorporates slatted sections, allowing spooning side sleepers to dip their arm into one and avoid numbness.

Wanting to cuddle, but having an arm that would fall asleep when he tried, Mehdi Mojtabavi designed a mattress that fulfilled his desires and cured his ills.

His unique invention, called the Cuddle Mattress, incorporates slatted sections, allowing spooning side sleepers to dip their arm into one and avoid numbness.

It’s also proven handy for stomach sleepers, who can wedge their feet into the lower slits.

The inventor of the Cuddle Mattress sees it as much more than freedom from discomfort, however.

Foremost, he notes the bonds that can be strengthened by it use, as embracing is a vital aspect of intimacy and relationship building.

Too often, he says, cuddling is cut short because it can be exhausting. With the mattress, that isn’t so.

It’s also been brought to his attention that individuals with physical ailments can benefit from it, as pain-inducing sleep postures can be avoided.

Unfortunately, the Cuddle Mattress isn’t available for people to buy in stores or online. Not yet, anyway.

Even though the mattress received multiple design awards and a lot of interest when it was first proposed, funding for its manufacture has yet to be secured.
