I never really liked how the sound effects were utilized in Warner Bros. Animation's late 1960s shorts (mostly some obscure Treg Brown/WB sound FX and a small portion of the Hanna-Barbera sound effects library, so here I present to you a newly updated version of the 1968 Looney Tunes short, "Flying Circus," with enhanced sound FX to make it sound more realistic and modernized, in a similar vein to the studio's "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" 35 years later, but without the cell phones/Internet/GPS references or a Simple Plan theme song, as well as a bit like the current "The Looney Tunes Show."
The lead characters in this one remind me a lot of DePatie-Freleng's Roland and Rattfink, though this came out before their debut short. Maybe Warner Bros. Animation had a spy over at DePatie-Freleng who learned about this, and so Warner decided to beat them to the game?
The original was also extremely limited on sound effects, so my enhancing was a good thing. You no longer hear that one stock plane zooming sound ad nauseum anymore!
