"'Aarti Tukaram' is a Marathi Devotional Aarti sung in praise of Sant Tukaram. Devotees sing this aarti during the most enthusiastically celebrated Hindu festival, Ganesh Chaturthi.
Sant Tukaram was born in 1608 in the village of Dehu, on the banks of the river Indrayani. He was a prominent Varkari saint and was popularly known as a spiritual poet. Sant Tukaram was a devotee of the dark complexioned deity, Lord Vitthal, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu.
Aarti -- A Hindu religious ritual of worship, refers to the songs sung in praise of the deity when lamps are being offered. Devotees express their complete and unflinching love towards God by singing aartis with a deep sense of reverence and adoration.
