Heliophorus moorei filmed at Landour in Uttarakhand: July 2013

2013-09-05 1

This butterfly fluttered by and landed on this fern leaf in the monsoon season, at Landour, in July 2013. It turned out to be Heliophorus moorei, an identification thankfully given by Hemant Ogale. The butterfly gives a nice view, slowly pirouettes around and gives a frontal and rear view...

This is most likely the Himachal sub-species:

Heliophorus moorei coruscans Moore, 1882 -- Himachal Azure Sapphire
